Version History SNAP TO WHAT YOU DREW
The pen now snaps to your own drawing, not only to the grid: stroke ends, midpoints and crossings, the strokes themselves, the corners, centers and edges of images and texts, and text baselines. A marker and a label show what it snapped to — even while the Pencil hovers.
SNAPPING PANEL
A new side panel chooses what snaps — grid, strokes, images, texts and intersections — with snap and priority distances and the indicator's colors.
HELPER LINES
While you drag a stroke's end, dashed lines through its original ends, or circles around the reference point, catch the pen.
GRID LINE THROUGH ENDS
Add a grid line through a stroke's two ends from the Layers panel or the selection menu.
SYNC THAT REMEMBERS
The server now keeps each document's versions, so a device that was offline merges exactly. A rename reaches every device, and a Files copy of a synced document becomes its own document. Requires infsketch-server 1.4.0. 2.4 20h ago PROPERTIES PANEL
Edit the selection by the numbers: position, size, rotation and flips, a reference point at one of nine places, and live values while you move, resize, turn or stretch. Strokes show how wide they draw and the width of their tool, with the palette's presets, ink, color and opacity. Texts get size, color, opacity, word wrap and an anchor. With nothing selected, it sets up your pen.
TEXT ANCHORS
Pick the point of a text's box that stays put as the text grows — a corner, an edge's middle or the center.
SMARTER SELECTION
Handles can scale the content instead of the rectangle, the reference point can stay inside the rectangle, and Show rectangle brings it back. Reset image and text transforms from the selection menu. Delete and Cut now leave select mode.
TOOLBARS THAT EXPLAIN THEMSELVES
The label names the mode you are in — tap it for every button of that toolbar. Hold any button to read what it does.
A CLEAR CANVAS WHILE SELECTING
The tool palette hides in select mode; a setting brings it back. The tool strip gains an opacity slider for every ink. 2.3 Sep 28 INFINITYSKETCH IS NOW ON THE MAC
Download it from the App Store on your Mac. Same documents, same sync with your iPad and iPhone, same AI — with a docked tool strip, hover hints on every button, and Reveal in Finder.
LAYERS & OBJECTS
The Images and Texts panels are now one panel that mirrors your drawing's stacking order: Texts, Strokes, Grids, Images, Pinned images and Paper, front-most on top. Every selected stroke gets its own row with a thumbnail, an ink sample, its name, width and color. Fold sections, reorder with the grips, pin an image to the background, and refine the selection per row or per band with Only and Deselect. Tap a row's preview and that element flashes in rainbow colors on the canvas, so you always know which one it is.
COPY & PASTE STROKE STYLES
Copy a stroke's ink & width, its color, or both, and paste it onto other strokes — from its row in Layers & Objects or from the selection menu. It is the system clipboard, so a style survives a restart and travels to your other devices. "Use as current tool" picks a stroke's style up as your pen. ⌥⌘C and ⌥⌘V on a keyboard.
DOCKED TOOL STRIP
The Mac's tool picker, and an option in Settings on iPad: the floating palette is replaced by a strip docked beside the canvas, with the same tools in the same order, width presets and color a second tap away, and Draw with Finger at its foot.
SYNC STATUS PER DOCUMENT
The toolbar dot is green only while this document syncs; a hollow ring means it is local-only. Tap it to read why. The sync switch has its own section at the top of Document Settings. From a Mac, join the server with a click on its page or by pasting the address — no camera needed. 2.2 Sep 8 InfinitySketch has a server now — free, open source, and yours. Run it on a Mac, Linux or Windows machine, and your sketches gain three things:
DRAW WITH AN AI
The server speaks MCP, so an AI assistant on your computer can see your sketch and draw in it — strokes, fills, text, images, grids, even snapped to your document's own grid lines. Edits appear live on your canvas, use your current pen, and every one is a normal Undo step.
A LIVE WEB PAGE
Open the server in any browser and watch your sketches update as you draw.
YOUR DEVICES, ONE SKETCH
Documents sync live between your iPads and iPhones. It's local-first: every device keeps a full copy, so losing the server never loses a sketch. No account, no cloud — nothing leaves your network.
SCAN TO JOIN
The server prints a QR code when it starts. Scan it with your camera and InfinitySketch asks to join — no addresses to type.
Server documents appear beside your local files with previews, and any document can opt out of sync in Document Settings. Concurrent edits merge element by element; a genuine conflict is backed up rather than overwritten, and undo stays coherent across devices.

https://github.com/circuitshepherd/infinitysketch-server 2.1 Aug 17 Bugfix: Changing stroke widths now works correctly. 1.21 Jul 26 Restore original stroke widths after scaling a selection — keep the scaled shape, bring pen thickness back to how it looked when you drew.
IMPROVEMENTS & FIXES
• Fixed: placed text with reduced opacity no longer exports or copies at full opacity (Export PNG, Copy as image, and transparent selection paste now match the canvas). 1.20 Jul 19 Text comes to InfinitySketch — and a lot more.
ADD & EDIT TEXT
Tap the new Add/Edit Text tool, then tap anywhere to drop a text and start typing — tap any text to edit it in place. Text scales with zoom and shows up in PNG exports and thumbnails. Place precisely by dragging with Apple Pencil, and snap to the grid when Snap to Grid is on.
STYLE IT
A Word-style Text Format panel: font, size, bold/italic/underline/strikethrough, text and highlight colour, alignment, and line & letter spacing. Save your looks as reusable style presets, and use Copy & Paste Format to brush one text's style onto others. Turn on Word Wrap for fixed-width text boxes you can resize right on the canvas. Text adapts automatically to dark and light mode.
SELECT & TRANSFORM
Rectangle-select your texts to move, rotate, and scale them alongside strokes and images, restyle several at once, and reorder them in the new Texts panel.
SMART PASTE, COPY & DRAG-AND-DROP
Paste now figures out your clipboard — in-app content pastes richly, images drop in, and copied text becomes editable placed text. Copy a selection (or the whole sketch) as a transparent image to paste into Notes, Mail, or anywhere. On iPad, drag images from Photos, Files, or Safari straight onto the canvas.
MOUSE & TRACKPAD
On iPad, a connected pointer now drives every non-drawing gesture — selection, handles, picking a grid origin, and more.
OPEN FROM FILES
Tap an .infsketch file in the Files app to open it directly in the editor, with in-place editing for external documents and multi-device conflict safety for iCloud. Long-press in the browser to Open in New Window.
KEYBOARD
Full clipboard shortcuts (Cmd-C / Cmd-V / Cmd-X / Cmd-D / Cmd-A), three-finger copy/paste/select-all gestures, and Esc to back out of any mode.
IMPROVEMENTS & FIXES
• The keyboard stays put as you move between texts.
• Each text edit collapses into one clean undo step.
• Undo and redo now work inside rectangle-select.
• Side panels remember their scroll position, with icons on their names.
• Much faster, smoother rectangle-select on big sketches.
• Fixed: deleting or undoing a line no longer moves unrelated lines.
• Fixed: fast-drawn lines all snap, not just the last.
• Fixed: a rare undo/redo crash, and a hang when copying with nothing selected.
• Fixed: iPhone toolbar overlap, and the iPadOS window controls covering the back button. 1.19 Jun 28 New tool: Bring to Front / Send to Back. A new pen sits in the PencilKit palette right after the Eraser. It doesn't draw — dragging across strokes pushes them to the top (Bring to Front) or bottom (Send to Back) of the z-order. Each stroke moves at most once per drag; the whole drag is one Undo entry. Tap the pen a second time to switch between the two modes; the badge on the pen swaps to match.
Side Panel — the toolbar's old Lines & Grids button is now a generic Side Panel button. Its icon mirrors which edge the panel docks to. The header has a menu that switches between Lines & Grids and the new Images subpanel; your last choice is remembered until you reopen the document.
New: Images panel. Lists the rect-selected placed images on the canvas. Each row has a thumbnail, a pin button, and an opacity slider with a percent field. Drag rows to reorder the front-to-back stack within their layer.
Pin to send an image to a separate background layer — pinned images always render behind any non-pinned image, regardless of list order, while z-order is preserved among pinned and among non-pinned independently. Pinned images can still be rect-selected, but they stay put when the rest of the selection is moved, transformed, or deleted — release them with "Unpin selected images" in the rect-select menu. 1.18 May 11 Lines & Grids — redesigned. On iPad the panel now docks to the side of the canvas instead of taking over the screen, so you can tweak grid settings while you draw.
New: Pick origin from canvas. Tap a grid's scope icon, then tap a point on the canvas — that point becomes a grid intersection, and the anchor is preserved as you change rotation, spacing, or grid type.
New: Isometric grid — a 60° triangular lattice for axonometric work.
New: per-grid Rotation°. Each grid rotates independently, and Offset X / Y read in the grid's local rotated frame so typing values feels natural at any angle.
Per-grid Enable snap and Visible toggles let you mix grids more freely. Swipe right on a row to duplicate it, swipe left to delete, long-press to drag and reorder — the new order also restacks the grids on the canvas.
Stroke width edits now preserve pen pressure — width changes no longer flatten the pressure profile.
Adjustable snap threshold — tune it in iOS Settings → InfinitySketch (default 50pt). 1.17 May 4 Removed Apple's Document Picker GUI and replaced it with a custom solution. This fixes occasional crashes when closing documents! 1.16 12/23/2025 Bugfix: Undo operations affecting images are now stored correctly. 1.15 11/16/2025 Added Autosave Feature
To mitigate potential data loss from occasional issues with Apple's Document-Based App API when closing documents, the app now includes an autosave feature. It automatically saves a copy of each document to a dedicated autosave folder, except for documents already stored in that folder. Older autosave files are automatically deleted to manage storage. The autosave limit (default: 10 files) can be customized in the app's settings. 1.14 10/06/2025 Graphical UI upgrades (Liquid Glass)
Stability improvements 1.13 09/18/2025 Stability improvements 1.12 09/08/2025 Added Image Support: Seamlessly paste images from the system pasteboard to set them as backgrounds or use them as symbols, enhancing your creative workflow.
Reworked the toolbar system.
Added dedicated Undo and Redo buttons to the toolbar.
Introduced "Rotate" and "Scale" manipulation modes when a reference point is set.
Improved resolution for PNG exports, with a 16-megapixel limit to prevent memory issues.
"Force Line" and "Snap to Grid" are now disabled by default. Enabling or disabling "Force Line" automatically toggles "Snap to Grid" for convenience, while still allowing independent control of "Snap to Grid" when needed.
Added new example sketch: "Flicker-Free LED Dimming"
Bug fixes and stability improvements. 1.11 08/17/2025 Added new options to document settings:
"Include Grid in Export" - When enabled, the grid will be shown in the exported PNG image!
"Grid Line Thickness Scale for Export" - Grid line thickness will be multiplied by this factor for export.
"Clearance Margin" - Defines the amount of empty space added around the content in the exported image.
Now "Force line" will also affect stretched strokes if enabled!
Improved stroke endpoint selection algorithm. It’s now possible to distinguish between strokes that share the same endpoint!
The Reference Point marker now has the same (configurable) color as "Rect Select." 1.10 02/25/2025 Bugfix: Drawing dots on the snap grid should now work as intended. 1.9 02/05/2025 Infinity Sketch can now convert any stroke into a perfect Arc / Circle!
----
Here is how it's done:
1. Select the strokes to convert into arcs with the "Rectangle Select" tool.
2. Set the Reference Point to the arc center.
3. In the dropdown menu, choose "Edit arc" (instead of "Rotate endpoint").
4. Drag the endpoints of a selected stroke to convert it into an arc!
----
It's now possible to draw dots on the enabled snap grid! The drawn dot will be centered, and it is ensured that the stroke is closed at the snapped position.
Pro hint: Draw dots with a transparent color to create invisible "stroke endpoints" to create snapping anchor points for edit operations!
Minor fixes and improvements. 1.8 02/04/2025 Introduced a new Document Settings overlay.
PNG images will now export with a background color by default.
Use the new Document Settings overlay to set up exports with a transparent background.
Customize the colors of "Background", "Snap Indicator", "Line Indicator", and "Rect Select" in the Document Settings overlay.
The back button now closes open overlays before exiting the document.
Minor fixes and improvements. 1.7 12/31/2024 New toolbar button to disable scroll and zoom 1.6 12/14/2024 Fixed toolbar issues! 1.5 12/12/2024 Hotfix for iOS 18.1 (which had previously completely broken the app)
Unfortunately, there are still issues with the toolbar. These are known issues with Apple’s document-based app API, which I cannot fix on my end. As a workaround, moving the app to the background and reopening it from the task manager usually helps. I’ll keep an eye on this and apply a fix as soon as possible. 1.4 10/29/2024 Stability improvements 1.3 10/24/2024 The back button now exits Rect Select mode if active, instead of closing the document.
The example sketch now displays the correct background color in light mode.
Added a link to my X profile.
Renamed the share button to "Export as PNG". 1.2 10/12/2024 1.1 10/08/2024

Version History INFINITYSKETCH IS NOW ON THE MAC
2.2 2d ago InfinitySketch has a server now — free, open source, and yours.
